The 10th Annual Three Days of Aloha in the Pacific Northwest festival culminates with a free, all-day Ho‘ike featuring halau hula from throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond, na kumu hula Manu Boyd, Victoria Takamine, Leialoha Amina, Robert Cazimero and kumu Aunty Paulette Kahalepuna, plus vendors offering all kinds of ono island food and beautiful Polynesian arts and crafts. The program begins with a special presentation of the acclaimed historical reenactment “Ka Lei Maile Aliʻi: The Queen’s Women.” The popular interactive performance tells the little-known story of Native Hawaiian resistance to the 1898 annexation of Hawaii by the U.S. and the anti-annexation petitions that circulated throughout the islands by supporters of Hawaii’s beloved Queen Liliʻuokalani. Sponsored by Ke Kukui Foundation, a Hawaiian arts and culture preservation non-profit, the Three Days of Aloha festival is Vancouver’s biggest annual event drawing 20,000 visitors from the PNW and beyond.
