November/December Executive Director’s Report

•  Happy Birthday to Margarita Cuizon-Armelino of the Northern California Chapter.  She is the Membership Director for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).  Happy Birthday to Honorary Board Member Ruth Perez Ashley!  Congratulations to Honorary Board Member LooLoo and her new husband Taulau Tupua! We sent them a wedding card.
•  Sympathy to the family of Kirk Real, former Bellflower USD Principal and long-time City of Lakewood Volunteer who passed away at age 86.  We often worked side-by-side with Kirk at Project Shepherd.  A card was also sent to the family. 
•  Assemblymember George Nakano, Honorary Board Member and the first chair of the API Caucus, send us a donation. 
•  Dr. Dave Long of the Safe Schools Conference plans to send us a donation soon for the Scholarship fund.  NPIEN is a partner for the conference.  Consider attending the Conference in July 2022 in Anaheim and visit the NPIEN table. 
•  The Southern California COVID-19 Response Team Phone Banking Grant has started.  A student intern will be calling friends and colleagues recommended by NPIEN board and staff members to educate them about the vaccine.  Phone Banking ends in January 2022.
•  The 16 students who received the Christina Diaz Scholars Awards at NPIEN’s 20th Anniversary Conference were mailed a medallion, certificates from legislators and school officials and a gift card for lunch.  The adult winners of the Dr. Alofa Tanuvasa Community Award and the Sevia Ma’ae Educator Award received plaques and other gifts in the mail. 
•  Participants in the Annual Conference survey received gift cards in the mail for their participation. 
•  We received a matching $1,000 check from our sponsor Sales Force!  We now have 25 members in Texas!  These funds will be used for operations and scholarships. 
•  Loriann Leota, NPIEN Staff Member attended the Annual Leadership Summit in San Francisco this year of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), one of our Major Sponsors. 
•  Have you marked your calendar for the 9th Annual Golf Tournament, April 25, 2022, Lakewood Country Club?  Do you have your foursome?  You can now register on our Website. 
•  Virtual Ohana Night is on Thursday December 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. PST.  OHANA NIGHT the first or 2nd Thursday 7:00-8:00 p.m. PST on TWITCH and Facebook Live. Subscribe to Twitch and NPIEN receives funds.

We are well known for our Royales. Our Hawaiian Royale is made with Portuguese Sausage, Char Sui, Scrambled Eggs, and Bean Sprouts & Green Onions over Steamed Rice. Then you season it with a little of our Homemade Teriyaki Sauce. So Ono!
