Executive Director's Report for June/July 1st 2021

• We wrote a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom along with 150 leading health, civil rights, social justice, educational equity and community-based organizations supporting the $219 million API Equity Budget which will promote the safety and wellness and API communities.
• Stop Hate AAPI Listening Sessions. NPIEN participated in these sessions. 0.2% of the over 6,000 hate incidents nationally were related to Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, but the rest are against Asians. We stand with the Asian community and encourage all to report these crimes and share a message of unity and support for all, in particular for our students returning to school.
• NPIEN is an organizer of the The Safe Schools Conference. July 14-16, 2021 in Anaheim. Educators, counselors, social workers and law enforcement attend. The conference will be at 25% capacity. https://safeschoolsconference.com/ Come and learn more about keeping our schools safe.
• Falanai Ala Speaker Series has come to a close and NPIEN speakers and mentors met with 1,229 students, staff, and parents.
• School Talk Story with Dr. T on Facebook every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. PST
• Loriann Leota, NPIEN Staff and Dr. Thompson met with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) and discussed School Safety, Chronic Absenteeism and K-12 Disaggregated data.
