Hanabuddah Days AlohaWorld Update

Remember YOUR "small keed time"? Those were the good old days! YOU were young, innocent, naive and maybe even a little bit "kolohe" (rascal). When you look back, I bet you cannot help but grin, yeah?  I bet you can just feel a longing oozing up inside of you for a time when life was much simpler. Wherever you live now, if you grew up in Hawaii, you must remember your "hanabuddah days". Eh, no shame ... we all had "hanabuddah".

  • Happy Birthday to Dr. Carl Cohn, retired Long Beach USD Superintendent and Diane DuBois, retired Mayor of Lakewood, Kehau Gabriel, Polynesian Academy of Arts, Al Austin, City Councilman of the City of Long Beach, Laty Johnson, NPIEN Northern California Chapter Member, Aileen Tanimoto Matsuura, NPIEN Past President, Will Safotu, NPIEN President, Dr. Daryl Camp, Superintendent, San Lorenzo Unified School District, Sariah Devereaux, State Farm Insurance, Bruce Lee, NPIEN Event Staff Member, Dr. Monica Sanchez, Los Angeles County Office of Education and Mayor of Pico Rivera, Dr. Susan Adams Liberati, Andrew Pati Ah Young.
  •  At Ohana Night on Thursday October 6th at 7:00 p.m. we had 15 in attendance including NPIEN Sponsors Amy and Omar Sloan of Amy's Trophies who created the awards for the Annual Conference and Maria Villarosa of LA County Office of Education. We hope to see you on 11/3/22 at 7:00 p.m. at 5316 Clark Ave., Lakewood, CA.
  • NPIEN raised over $4,000 in the HundredX campaign!
  •  Please welcome new Staff Member Sheridan Manaea, Executive Assistant.
  • City of Lakewood College Fair: Amelia Tupua and Dr. Thompson were at NPIEN's table on Tuesday October 11th at the Sycamore Centre in Lakewood, CA. There were over 50 colleges and organizations. We met Drew Cummins, Counselor from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA who is from Palau! NPIEN sponsored one of the four $250 scholarships which were awarded to the student attendees in a raffle.
  • We worked at the Lakewood Education Foundation Golf Tournament on October 21, 2002, at the Lakewood Country Club. Thank you Teresa and Hector, for helping at the table as we passed out goodie bags, homemade cookies from our NPIEN Vendor Eva Shaw and NPIEN information. We met students and teachers from Lakewood High School, St. Joseph High School and Mayfair High School plus Lakewood Mayor Steve Croft. We also sponsored a Tee Sign.
  • We would again like to Thank You for your participation in the 21st Annual Conference. This was largest number of service and student award winners we have ever had, over 60. We were sad about some of the technological issues but pleased that we were able to recognize so many. We will post service award winners and student scholars pictures and bios on our website soon. Thanks to Speaker Dr. Larry Natividad, Compton High School Principal.
