- Happy Birthday to Ron Inatomi, NPIEN golfer, Dennis Pagenkopp, Honorary NPIEN Golf Tournament Chair, Francine Blacksher, NPIEN Board Member and Consulting Teacher, San Bernardino City Unified School District, Shauniece Croudip, NPIEN Event Staff member, Judy Ann Sanchez, NPIEN Event Staff Member, Dwight Berry, NPIEN Golfer, and NPIEN Honorary Board Member Pastor Misi Tagaloa.
- Our thoughts of sympathy and prayers to the People of the Ukraine.
- Our sympathy and thoughts to the school community in Richfield, Minnesota where two students were shot at South Education Center and one of the students died.
- We also share thoughts for victims of bomb threats at seventeen Historically Black Colleges and Universities and churches.
- The Kingdom of Tonga still needs our support. Visit our Facebook Page for a Go Fund Me link by Tongan Olympian Pita Taufatofua. Almost $850,000 has been raised and three containers of supplies were shipped to the Kingdom of Tonga.
- The Southern California Pacific Islander COVID Response Team, an NPIEN partner, led by Lorraine Tuala Logoai and Mariah Ramos, thanked us for making over 400 phone contacts in December and January in support of educating the community on COVID 19.
- We participated in the installation of officers of the Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders by Vice President Kamala Harris. Retired Congressman and Honorary NPIEN Board Member Dr. Robert Underwood and NPIEN Mentor Dr. Raynald Samoa were sworn in as commissioners.
- At the Black History Month Celebration at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the late Ethel Johnson was recognized for her work with the three heritages groups at the office, the African American, Hispanic and Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Groups. The Aloha Ukulele Ensemble visited Ethel often in the Warehouse to share music. The program also discussed the Freedom to Vote Act.
- Congratulations to Nellie Angeo. NPIEN Staff Member, a CIF Champion for the St. Joseph High School Cheer Team which is headed to Nationals!

Aloha to all of our beloved HAM ‘ohana,
We’ve missed you all and hope that our entire hula ‘ohana is well. We have what will surely be disappointing news to hear.
As of January 1, 2022 we are officially dissolving the organization. This was a difficult decision for us but the logistics and expense of holding workshops have simply made holding these events no longer feasible.
We cannot begin to express our gratitude for your support over the years. You have all become family to us, and given us memories we will cherish for a lifetime. It has been our privilege to bring the most insightful and beloved Kumu to our area.
We have so much love for our hula community, and will sincerely miss each and every of you.
