Wonton Soup

1 pkg wonton wrappers
1/2 lb ground pork or chopped shrimp or 1/4 lb each
2/3 cup waterchestnuts, chopped
1/2 cup scallions (green onions), chopped
1 Tbsp shoyu
1 small egg
1/2 tsp MSG (optional)
1/4 tsp salt
2 quarts chicken stock
Cooking Instructions
Combine pork, waterchestnuts, scallions, shoyu, egg. Mix well. Season with MSG and salt. Place a heaping teaspoon of filling on the diagonal of a wonton square. Fold over so that a filled triangle is formed. Seal by running a teaspoon wet with water along the deges and pressing them together. Bring soup to a boil. Season to taste. Drop filled wontons in boiling stock. Cook with cover on for 5 minutes or until dumplings rise to the surface. To prepare ahead: The wontons and chicken stock may be made ahead. Freeze separately. Reheat stock. Cook wontons without thawing.
