It was the
mixture of the talented and gifted musicians, the graceful
dancers, the gut jiggling comedy, the friendly vendors, the
'broke the mouth' food, the Aloha Gathering team who worked
behind the scenes and the Aloha Spirit that flowed freely
between the guests that made this year's annual Aloha Gathering
a success!
"The Aloha
Gathering is such a FUN, laid back event and the people that
attend are always eager to let their hair down, jump right in
and take part in the celebration. It is as though everyone
knows it is 'THE TIME to CELEBRATE ALOHA' and that's just what
we do", Izzie says, co-owner of AlohaWorld LLC and host of the
Aloha Gathering.
Koni,
partner and founder of AlohaWorld LLC agrees and adds, "It goes
beyond celebration, it's like a time of renewal, or revival!
We go about our daily lives until this yearly event when every
thing we work toward comes together and Aloha is harvested and
shared. We shed our age and become kids again, and the
Aloha Spirit is rejuvenated."
Christine
Biaggi of "Island Girl Marketing", also co-hosted the Aloha
Gathering event along with Izzie and Koni. "Every year, it
just keeps getting better and better and I look forward to
meeting with everyone and I enjoy capping my "work year" off
this way. So much Aloha and we're all like ohana. I
will always look forward to our annual Aloha Gathering! I
can't wait for the next one!"
"Every year
we make new friends and renew friendships", Kamaka Brown, local/
Hawaiian-style comic and emcee for the Aloha Gathering said and
added, "When I heard the laughter, saw the smiles and looked at
the happy faces of all that were gathered... I must tell you it
spoke to my heart. The Aloha Gatherings run on special
"octane" it seems... and once da buggah is on it's way it has a
life of it's own."
What did
others have to say about the Aloha Gathering?
"Mahalo
plenty!!! We were sooo excited about being a part of the
gathering. I know we told you that night, but I'll mention
it again, we had a great time. We both honestly felt like
we knew everybody there. The other vendors were so warm.
Koni and Izzie, you are just wonderful. I felt like we all
knew each other for years. The food was sooo ono, just
like home.
We could not
stop talking about the gathering. Honestly, we talked
about it throughout the rest of our stay in Vegas and came home
and told our family and friends.
You know, I
live in Waimanalo and I've been to a few luaus with ono food,
entertainment and friendship and lots of laughs. Your
gathering was just like that, even BETTER. We cannot thank
you enough for all your hard work. We're so happy and
grateful that we were able to attend and meet new friends.
We saw most people over the weekend at the Ho'olaule'a. We
greeted and chatted with them like we knew them from kid time."
Bree,
Hawaii
"It was the
best that I've been to and that has been a total of "2" (2003 &
2005). Food was ono and loved the poi and long rice and
kalua pig... kudo's to the chef!!! Met a classmate of mine
from Kamehameha there with her sister, who Kamaka called up to
dance a hula for the attendees. Really liked the musicians
who played and Kamaka's joking and talking with the crowd.
Junk'n Po is a keeper.. tell Kamaka to keep it in his
entertainment routine! Haven't played that since I was a
kid in Waikiki! I had fun teaching it to my haole wahine
friend who came with me. She was amazed with the
popularity of the game among us local transplants."
Byron Bader,
California
"The
Mahalos should go to you and the others who organized the
Aloha Gathering. I thought the event was great. The
Jan-Ken Po contest and other activities gave it a nice 'local'
feeling and the food was great. Every one seemed to be
enjoying themselves."
Jon, California
"This
was without a doubt a heart felt aloha event. Last year my
wahine and I toyed with the idea of going and decline at the
last minute. This was definitely worth the trip from Sierra
Vista, Arizona. We had family members from the island
fly-in to Vegas on the same weekend, so that made the
experience much like being at home (on the island). We are
planning on attending next year and this time recruit our
island family into joining us. Much Thanks for the event."
Natlene &
Joseph, Arizona
"Mahalo
in letting us be part of your Aloha Gathering this year. We
had a wonderful time, the food was great and the company was
wonderful. We thought everything turned out wonderful. Hats
off to you, Izzie, and all of your helpers. Well done. Can't
wait to see the photos."
