Not only was the
Aloha Gathering 2002
a "sell out" this year, but
it was also a complete SUCCESS! Combined efforts of co-owners
Koni Kwak and
Izzie Ramos of
AlohaWorld LLC, Christine
Biaggi (Island Girl Marketing),
Kamaka Brown
(AlohaWorld's resident comic and roving ambassador), and
AlohaWorld's strong arms, Ralph
& Donna
Villafuerte kept
the event rolling from start to finish while musicians
Danny Estocado, Kawika
Gapero and performers from the Halau
Hula a Kawika lua 'O Leinani all made a magical
mix for a very touching and special event.
The added touch of vendors and
sponsors' (see list) contributions of door prizes kept
the people interacting as the night progressed. Of course, we
must not forget to mention the delicious island style kau kau
(buffet) catered by the California
Hotel. It was filling, satisfying and brought
back old time memories for many. The
conclusion of the event had everyone join hands and hearts to
sing Hawai'i Aloha. Everyone who attended and
participated at the Aloha Gathering 2002 were responsible for
the event's success.
"We all did our part, and loved
doing what we were doing and because of it, the people who
attended felt the "magic" of Aloha and THAT is what made it so
successful", said Izzie when asked what she believed is
behind the success and the growing popularity of the Aloha
Gatherings.
She went on to say, "What makes
the team effort "click" is sharing the same "vision" for
Aloha. We sincerely want to be an example of "Aloha". We have a
need to "help" people find and experience Aloha. It breaks our
hearts to see so many people miss the mark and miss out on the
"sharing and giving" that Aloha motivates us to do when we are
willing. A lot of people are getting the message, though. People
are beginning to realize that AlohaWorld isn't out to "make da kala (money)", and we're not plotting ways to get into people's
pockets..... AlohaWorld tries hard to get into the hearts of
people through what we have to offer them. There were so many
times when we were approached by others who wanted to combine
forces with AlohaWorld and "market" this and that in order to
make oodles of profit. But we have always steered clear of such
offers and continue to move forward to promote "Aloha". The
Aloha Gatherings is just one way we've used to share Aloha with
others".
Koni also spoke from his heart
about the Aloha Gatherings, "All the planning and
preparation that Izzie and I, together with the others who share
the same vision, contributed to the event ...it blended
well with all of those "strangers" who gathered together and
shared a very special gift of aloha with each other. As the
event started to roll forward the people were no longer
"strangers" but they all became a part of a special bonding of
love that we all call Aloha. The Aloha Gathering wasn't just a
"luau" ..was not just a "party", nor just a "Polynesian Show".
It was not just a "good fun time". I think that most people
would probably agree that for those few hours, no matter what
part of the country they came from, no matter how long they
have lived away from the islands, it didn't matter whether they
ever stepped foot on Hawaiian soil or not and no matter what
else was going on in their lives before the Gathering, the
Spirit of True Aloha was well and alive inside everyone!! I know
that I felt it .. beegtime!!"
In a nutshell, AlohaWorld and its
Aloha Gatherings are out to prove that Aloha does exist.
Not only within those who work together to make the events
reality, but within everyone else. The belief factor is, "We
DON'T have to LIVE in HAWAI'I in order to experience Aloha's
fruitfulness. We only have to realize it's there for us to give
and share." The team is meeting more and more people
who share the same vision as they do. More and more folks are
wanting to hold on to the "better" way of life that Aloha seems to
fulfill. Sharing, giving, loving, respecting, honoring.... the
list goes on. Many people are talking about it and activating it
in their lives.
AlohaWorld's team agrees,
"We're just honored to be a part of this 'Aloha revival'. It's
like being a part of a heartbeat. It's nothing special we do,
but it's like catching a big WAVE and going along for the ride.
The great thing about it is that the WAVE is big enough for ALL
to surf on..... WhoooHooo! "
Yes!!! ALOHA GATHERING 2003 is
already in the process of happening and you're invited to be a
part of it too
