Buy authentic island products. Taste island cuisine. See unique island songs and dances. Take part in cooking island food in an above ground pit or "umu." Build community with local vendors. Get discounted tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Thursday evening, before the Aquarium closes, visitors will be treated to authentic island dance performances. Each group will put on their version of authentic island performance in their unique vernacular.
Friday when the sun begins to set, another group of performers take the stage to share their idea of what it means to be at peace.
The theme this year, "Recreate and Innovate for Success," invites the community to listen to the past and recreate those conversations that have faded into communal memory. In recreating them, they now have the ability to examine those conversations, perhaps for the very first time. Having recreated these conversations, the community is now gifted with the insight to change it, to upgrade it, to innovate it towards success.
Your kids will have the opportunity, for a small fee, to sleep with the fish Friday night. Please make sure your child signs up, as we have a limited number of slots this year. While the children enjoy their sleepover at the Aquarium, the adults have the option of dining at the Aquarium, for a separate fee, listening to a leader from the community share their journey from recreation, to innovation and to success.
On Saturday, you will experience island ritual and worship ceremony early morning. You can watch the youth participate in dance competitions, pulls and other island games.
Sunday opens with community worship at 11am followed by spiritual dances, performances, songs and hymns from the community until dark. This is what you can expect from Tafesilafa'i.
