COMPTON SCHOOLS CELEBRATE API MONTH
NPIEN co-sponsored an Asian and Pacific Islander Cultural Celebration in the Compton Unified School District (CA) on June 4, 2008, at Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School. Compton Unified School District officials Robert Nero, Deputy Superintendent, and Dr. Joe Buenavista, Senior Director of Pupil Services, provided greeting remarks, and the keynote speaker was Joe Fa'avae, Program Director from OCAPICA. Second grade student Ernesto Ramirez led the pledge of allegiance, with the National Anthem sung by staff member Randy Leniu, accompanied by a Filipino American Music Ensemble. Cultural displays and presentations by staff and students, including dances from the Philippines and Samoa, were a highlight along with some authentically delicious food. NPIEN thanks Compton USD for its vision in making this celebration a reality!

NPIEN/TEAM Golf Tournament
It is not too early to start thinking about the Annual TEAM Referral Network Golf Tournament, on October 16, 2008, at the Sierra Lakes Country Club in Fontana, CA. NPIEN is a benefactor of funds raised. We are in need of golfers. The cost is $109 per golfer, including green fees, cart, lunch and dinner, goodie bag, and range balls! Haupia
Review By: Owldancer
I haven't made this yet, however, I would like to suggest that people include the size of pan/dish in the recipes. This one says to pour into a shallow pan, I am going to try 8"x8" and see how it turns out.
