HULA
ASSOCIATION OF THE MIDWEST
Presents
Tahitian Island Days May 11-13
Pau already. You guys when miss out. The drumming
workshop with Aulava, Master Instructor, was incredibly
informational. So much so, that by the end of the workshop, all participants
could drum in unisom, with just a prompt from Aulava. He has been anointed as
having "machine gun" arms for rapid, clear and precise Tahitian drumming. He
currently is a part of the Disney ohana, in Florida, as a cast member at the
Polynesian resort for the last 15 years. His drumming was absolutely beautiful
and transforming. I got homesick.
However, I have a secret to share with you. No
student or onlookers would have guessed that his drum stick was actually in the
form of a man's thing. When the drum stick was out of his hands the room got
quiet cause peoples had respect for him. Of course, Aunty Kathy was the only one
who cracked up laughing and asked how could she get one for herself.
To get a better sense of his accomplishments, go to
humlamidwest.com.
There you will find a long list of his accomplishments. Personally, if he ever
came my way, I would attend his workshops even though I suffer from arthritis
(poo ting--me).
Then, Moeta, the most inspirational
Tahitian dancer we have ever seen, held her classes and everyone of her students
learned in a flash how to ami. But, of course, not as quick as she. Moeta Kehani
is a judge currently living in Orlando Florida.
Wait, wait, wait...the food!!! So ono, was worth the
money or drive just to get there. You know, when you drum or dance, you need
food to recover. Oh, yah! Even if you're just watching, being shy, old or simply
can't move too much anymore, you would need food; as all we Pacific Islanders
can attest to. Ono, ono, ono! I can't wait for more Hula Midwest events.
Remember to check our website for updates.

THIS is how they make it at Hawaiian
restaurants!! Yay thank you for posting :) It's the original. To all those
looking, the one with crab meat, relish, peas.....that IS NOT how they make
it.
We invite you to submit RECIPE REVIEWS for those recipes you have tried and love. It is a great way to share aloha with the "virtual" AlohaWorld ohana. Simply find your favorite recipes and click on the Review This Recipe link.
