Stories of Aloha: Homegrown Treasures of Hawai'i
The New Must-Have Book from Hawai'i!

Those who flew Aloha Airlines from 1985 until the airline shut down in 2008 knew they could count on one thing: a heartwarming profile of a favorite artist, musician, farmer, mom-and-pop business, or Hawaiian cultural treasure, written by Jocelyn Fujii, author of Under the Hula Moon. A collection of these articles, with updates, essays and island recipes from former Aloha Airlines employees, is finally available in Stories of Aloha: Homegrown Treasures of Hawai'i, published by Hula Moon Press.

Read about local legends Kamaka ‘Ukulele, Sig Zane Designs, Rainbow Drive-In, Tip Top Motel, Café and Bakery, Hamura Saimin, Kimura Lauhala Store, Kamakakehau Fernandez, five-time Na Hōkū Hanohano award winner Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole, and more than a hundred other island legends in this best-selling new release, with a foreword by Richard Chamberlain and photography by Brett Uprichard.

The Garden Island newspaper calls it
“a road map to Hawaiian etiquette, tradition and most importantly,
 the heart of its people.”

The Honolulu Advertiser says,
“…you felt as though you’ve learned something about your community and …
picked up some new ideas on where to shop or visit.”

The Maui News calls the book
 “uplifting tales in bite-size morsels.”

Richard Chamberlain writes,
“To embrace the soul of Hawai'i, take Jocelyn’s hand and follow her into
the lives of Hawai'i’s greatest treasures: her people.”

You will be able to submit and manage all of your postings. You can read the  Events FAQ, to become familiar with the process. Basically, you need an account, add a venue and once that is approved, you can submit the event. Once submitted you can login and edit the listing at anytime if needed.

Come and join us at Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe and Catering.

We have been around since 1976 spreading the joy of local Hawaiian cuisine at prices that is hard to beat.

We cater from small family gatherings from as little as 4 guests and up to larger parties of 1000 guests.  Our services include catering for pick up or catering with delivery service.  We can also serve your guests buffet style with our experienced staff.

We offer a range of catering combo specials from your small family deals that serve 4 & 6 guests.  Our larger catering combos start from 12 guests and up to 72 guests. Our prices for caterings are as low as $4.19 per person.  Let us know your budget; we will do our best to fit a menu that suits your needs.

We feature all the local Hawaiian dishes like:  Saimin Soup, Loco Moco, Lau Lau, Spam Musubi, Beef Stew, Portuguese Sausage Breakfast, Hamburger Steak, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pork, Portuguese Fried Rice, Chicken Katsu, Teriyaki Beef, etc...  Just too much to list.

We are well known for our Royales.  Our Hawaiian Royale is made with Portuguese Sausage, Char Sui, Scrambled Eggs, and Bean Sprouts & Green Onions over Steamed Rice.  Then you season it with a little of our Homemade Teriyaki Sauce.  So Ono!

Los Angeles Times Magazine, January 30, 2005, describes Rutt’s Hawaiian Café’s food as “Portions are huge.  Meals are cheap.”  In keeping with the Hawaiian Culture, making sure our guests get plenty of food is a tradition, we make this a truism at both of our restaurants.

Check out our website @ www.ruttscafe.com, our pages @ www.Facebook.com & www.myspace.com  We feature Special Priced Catering Combos that are economical.  Our prices are so competitive that Event Planners use us to cater their events; they are still able to make a good profit.

We are used frequently by groups like: Halaus, schools, athletic club, scholastic organizations, etc... For fundraisers and can help your organization make profits that you will be very pleased with.

Coco Puffs
Review By: chacha
This was a very good recipe. Not sure what i did wrong with the chantilly icing as it was still runny after an hour in the fridge. I added some knox geletin, powder sugar and some cornstart to thicken so the taste might have altered a bit. Other than that it was a great coco puff. Imagine the reviews I got here in Cheyenne, Wy. they love the stuff.
