“If Can. Can. If No Can. No Can.” Hawaiian Pidgin English Stories with Kamaka Brown
Hawaiian island native Kamaka Brown offers a one of a kind show featuring his original short stories accompanied by Hawaiian slack key guitarist T.Dan Hofsted.
Brown, a comic, writer, and producer born and raised in Hawai’i now lives in Southern California. He has a catalog of original stories written in Hawaiian Pidgin English of pre-statehood Hawai’i told through the eyes of a child living in rural O’ahu.
You will enjoy a nostalgic romp through the back roads of country living and the wide eyed wonder of being part of the blue collar neighborhoods of urban Honolulu. Brown’s shows are a “back porch” hang loose journey filled with stories, humor, memories and music. This is unique show must be experienced to be understood.
Kamaka toured Northern California, Washington and Oregon in the summer of 2009. His previously sold out shows in Southern California attest to the power of the spoken word and the joy of a simple solo guitar playing softly like a gentle breeze blowing along a north shore beach at sunset.
Joining Kamaka will be Miles Kaawa and Noel Calucag who are masters of contemporary Hawaiian music. The duo known as Island Jam will provide a perfect musical accent to the evening.
This show will be a release party for Kamaka’s new DVD of his show just in time for holiday giving !! Back by popular demand!
Call the Coffee Gallery Backstage (2020 N. Lake , Altadena) at 626-398-7917 and tell'em you want tickets for the December 19th show of Hawaiian Pidgin English Stories with Kamaka Brown. Show time: 7 PM

Ahi Poke #2 Review By: carleen Funny how you put the tofu, I'm gonna try that since I've been living in Washington and miss da poki...lol
Meat Jun / Korean Chen-Ya Review By: Raya 1/4 of an inch is kinda thick I'd go with 1/8" instead (ask your grocery store butcher to slice it for you - yes even Safeway will do it). Also, marinating meat with green papaya for at least 8 hours helps to make the meat more tender.
Filipino Pork Guisantes Review By: Darlene When I make this I add couple splashes of patis, yumm, sometimes add diced potatoes, stretches out
