Kamaka Brown KanakAttack
http://kamaka.alohaworld.com

AW’s Kamaka Brown offers a series of shows called “If Can.Can. If No Can. No Can” featuring original short stories. He has a catalog of original stories written in Hawaiian Pidgin English of pre-statehood Hawai’i told through the eyes of a child living in rural O’ahu. Brown, a comic, writer, and producer born and raised in Hawai’i now lives in Southern California.

You will enjoy a nostalgic romp through the back roads of country living and the wide eyed wonder of being part of the blue collar neighborhoods of urban Honolulu. Brown’s shows are a “back porch” hang loose journey filled with stories, humor, memories and music. Previously sold out shows in Southern California attest to the power of the spoken word and the joy of a simple solo guitar playing softly like a gentle breeze blowing along a north shore beach at sunset.

Kamaka’s shows will feature Oregon native, classical guitarist Joseph Thompson. Inspired by a recording of Andres Segovia, Joseph turned to the study of classical guitar. Based in Ashland, Joseph has pursued his music career as a performer, teacher, and arranger/composer. He has performed many solo recitals and toured in the Pacific Northwest.

“I am so excited that my friend Joe has accepted the invitation to play on my Pacific Northwest shows. Joe loves the islands and when he heard slack key guitar music he was fascinated by it. He has composed his own take of slack key influenced music especially for the show.” Brown said. “Everyone will be completely blown away by this classical guitarist blending the slack key style that is a Hawaiian island signature.”

Two new shows added:

  • May 19th: - Avery Theatre Etna, California
  • May 20th: Paschal Winery, Talent, Oregon.
  • May 23rd: Valley Cinema Pub Theatre, Beaverton, Oregon.
  • May 30th: Pac Island Grill, Federal Way, Washington

Guava Barbecue Sauce
Review By: Lani Pomaika'i
I was nervous to try this so I halved the recipe. The oyster sauce was too powerful so i ended up putting all the rest of the ingredients--except oyster sauce---but it was still too strong. I couldn't tell it had guava in it at all. I really wanted to like this, sorry, but I ended up wasting it cause I couldnt fix it. soorryyy. maybe someone else might have better luck.
