I just found your site and LOVE it! Been in Virginia since 1989 but relocated from Oahu in 1985 to Florida and then Belgium. Have been missing ohana and food. My daughter is spearheading "Hawaiian Day" at work and we thought it would be nice to make some dishes with real Hawaiian flavor for the folks. YOUR WEBSITE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED -- MAHALO NUI LOA.

Miss Hawaii but it just got too expensive to afford it there but we still love to get back. This is one great site. \m/

Chocolate Crispy Cookies Review By: Kilika
I tried this recipe was not clear as to how much salt was needed. I used 1/2 tsp salt. Cookies looked good to eat, but turned out salty & the baking soda was very pretty strong. Please re-check your measurements & resubmit the correct amount of ingredients. Mahalo.

Kailua Elementary's Shortbread Cookies Review By: Maile
I was a 2nd and then 3rd grader at Kailua Elementary School in the 50s! Even then this recipe was used for "juice and cooky" at recess time. It cost 5 cents to get a glass of guava juice and a piece of shortbread cooky. I now live and teach in Nome, AK, and I found this recipe while checking out da' site. We goin' have one very ono Christmas treat up hea' on our side in da snow!! Mahalos fo' whoeva' w'en pos ' dis recipe!!

Kailua Elementary's Shortbread Cookies Review By: Castle grad
Shortbread does not have eggs in it but I tried it anyway. Sure enough, it turned out dense, cake-like and flavorless. Sorry, but this is not a good recipe.

Spam Musubi Review By: Victor
I chose this recipe because the shoyu mix was simple to make. I didn't have Mirin sauce and added plain water instead but the shoyu mix came out fine. I think the double layer of SPAM is overkill but everyone has difference preferences when it comes to making a musubi. For example instead of Furukaki I like to use Teagu (spicy cuttle fishy) and Kim chii. The juices from both these ingredients flavors the rice. All in all I liked this recipe and will make it one of my favorites.
