| Tafesilafa’i Pacific Islander Festival
The 19th Annual Tafesilafa’i Pacific Islander Festival will be held from Friday, July 24, 2015 through Sunday, July 26, 2015 on the lawn of the Aquarium of the Pacific located at 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802. The Festival is Long Beach’s premier showcase of Samoan and Pacific Islander culture. Last Year, over 20,000 people visited the Festival. The 2015 Festival is expected to draw more people from all of Southern California. The Festival is free and everyone is welcomed.
This year, as in the past, many local and national top Samoan and Pacific Islander entertainers will perform traditional dances and songs; and vendors will provide delicious authentic island food; sell cultural island clothes, jewelry and art; and provide public service announcements. Special highlights of the three days will include traditional cultural opening and closing ceremonies featuring Samoan elders and youth, fire knife dancing, and a children’s sleepover-“Sleeping with the Fish”- at the Aquarium of the Pacific.
On Thursday, July 23, 2015, Tafesilafa’i will host a Festival Welcome Benefit Reception at the Outback Steakhouse, 20 West Shoreline Drive, Long Beach, California. The cost of tickets is $15 advance purchase and $20 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit inner city youth programs.
Tafesilafa’i is a civil rights, social justice, faith-and community-based organization that functions as an organic clearinghouse for things Samoan, Asian and Pacific Islander. It is an outreach and service provider organization that advocates on behalf of Samoans, Asians and Pacific Islanders in the greater Long Beach area, Los Angeles County and Southern California. Its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of Samoans, Asians and Pacific Islanders. It is a think tank where issues about the Samoan, Asian, and Pacific Islander people, their languages and cultures are investigated, researched, presented, debated, and where solutions are proposed and implemented.

We offer a range of catering combo specials from your small family deals that serve 4 & 6 guests. Our larger catering combos start from 12 guests and up to 72 guests. Our prices for caterings are as low as $4.19 per person. Let us know your budget; we will do our best to fit a menu that suits your needs.
We feature all the local Hawaiian dishes like: Saimin Soup, Loco Moco, Lau Lau, Spam Musubi, Beef Stew, Portuguese Sausage Breakfast, Hamburger Steak, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pork, Portuguese Fried Rice, Chicken Katsu, Teriyaki Beef, etc... Just too much to list.
We are well known for our Royales. Our Hawaiian Royale is made with Portuguese Sausage, Char Sui, Scrambled Eggs, and Bean Sprouts & Green Onions over Steamed Rice. Then you season it with a little of our Homemade Teriyaki Sauce. So Ono!
Los Angeles Times Magazine, January 30, 2005, describes Rutt’s Hawaiian Café’s food as “Portions are huge. Meals are cheap.” In keeping with the Hawaiian Culture, making sure our guests get plenty of food is a tradition, we make this a truism at both of our restaurants.
Check out our website @ www.ruttscafe.com, our pages @ www.Facebook.com. We feature Special Priced Catering Combos that are economical. Our prices are so competitive that Event Planners use us to cater their events; they are still able to make a good profit.
We are used frequently by groups like: Halaus, schools, athletic club, scholastic organizations, etc... For fundraisers and can help your organization make profits that you will be very pleased with.

- Broke Da Mouth Pulehu Ribs
Review By: Teresa
My family has enjoyed this easy recipe for years. I marinate it in large freezer bags for 2-3 days and use 8# ribs. It is a bit of a special family dish. Love it.
